Happy Thanksgiving from American Pest Control!

American Pest Control recently celebrated our 44th Anniversary, on November 15th! All of us here at APC have a lot to be thankful for, not the least of which is the late founder of American Pest Control, Mr. Gene Higginbotham, who grew a successful business that employs hundreds of local individuals. We are also thankful for our customers, many of whom have been with us since the beginning! We would not be here without you!

Rodent Awareness Week 2015

As temperatures fall, rodents seek shelter indoors and become a nuisance pest. Rodent Awareness Week is recognized by the National Pest Management Association to increase the public’s vigilance of rodent related problems. Rodents are an issue whether you live in a big city or a more rural area since they can range from large rats to small field mice. A recent viral image of a rat dragging a slice of pizza down the stairs in a New York subway station substantially increased awareness of rodents. The “pizza rat” was even a popular Halloween costume this year!

APC in the Community

American Pest Control is a locally owned, family-run business. Our owners and employees live and are active in the communities that we serve. As a business, we try to be as involved in the community as possible, whether that be by volunteering, donating, sponsoring or just showing up! Our most recent initiative was to become Partners in Education with elementary schools in our service area. We delivered umbrellas to over 200 schools! Many of our employees have ties to these schools because their children or other family members attend there.

Fall Pest Prevention

We often hear that pests are not a problem when the weather cools down. Customers tell us that they do not need service during the winter months. Once they cancel service they end up calling right back in a few weeks to start their service back up. Many pests seek a warmer climate during the winter and there is nothing more inviting than your cozy home! The most common winter pests are roaches, spiders, scorpions and rodents. Fall and winter are also the most common times for wildlife critters to make nests in your attic or crawl space. So what do you need to know about fall and winter pest prevention?

It is with heavy hearts today, September 2nd, that we lay to rest Mr. Gene Higginbotham, the founder and owner of American Pest Control. To many of those who work at APC he was more than an employer, he was a friend or even more like a family member.
